I have to admit, I didn't know that much about her when the primaries began. But I saw some posts about her on Tumblr and decided to do some research. I first heard about Hillary Clinton in 2008 (when I was 12 years old), and thought that she must be an amazing woman if she can run for president. Seven years later, I found out just how amazing she really is.
Fighting for human rights, women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and many more, being a role model to many young people, and giving so many young women the hope to be more than they can imagine are just some of the many things she has done and is still doing, even after great disappointments. She is not only that, but she is also really smart, kind, lovely, and funny, which makes her so much more likeable than any politician I have ever seen.
Through her, I became interested in politics, found new friends, and understood how important it is to fight for what you believe in.
Besides that, she gives so many people hope. I was in a deep depression when I decided to do some research on her and to get to know her a bit more, and it really helped me fight this monster called depression. Knowing she went through some really tough things herself and is still walking with confidence made me believe I can do that too.
So thank you, Madame Secretary (and for me, Madame President), for not only being one of the best role models, but also for saving my life. I will always be with you.
