My journey with Prince

Annonymous   —

Loved him from the beginning, from his soft & wet days and contreversy. I saw purple rain at the theatre when it came out in 84 & under the cherry moon (everyone loves boys & girls). It only made me love him more & wonder who this truly mysterious/private man was. Vanity, Sheila E., Sheena E., Nona Gaye, Carmen I wondered did he really like them? Saw him in concert live in Cleveland, Ohio in 1988 with Sheila E. I was 18, drunk & barely remember it, just him gyrating/singing on stage. Saw him again at 24 at his club Glam Slam in Hollywood, Ca. I wore purple that night, Mayte danced on stage & I wondered who she was. Stevie Wonder did a surprise appearance & my husband at the time was pleased. I could have sworn Prince spied me in my purple cocktail dress...lol. Drove 3 hours to Irvine, CA to see him again. He didn't get onstage until after 10 p. I admit I was a bit pissy in my nosebleed seats, as he ran through the hits, all I thought about was my three hour drive home. Saw him live 1x more in Bakersfield, 2nd row seats. This time I know he saw me. It was musicology and the best time ever. I was on a Prince high. I have cassettes, albums, cds, fav cd of his for yrs & have been playing them nonstop. His death stunned me. The only famous person I have ever cried over. And still I grieve, they can try to slander your name if they want but your lyrics & music tell us who you really are. And I for one already knew, long before the rest. My prince story.
