Class by Himself

There are no specific words to say what this man meant to me . It was more of a feeling . Between Bowie and Prince passing away , my daughter said it best . Because of my love of both artists , she also became a fan as their works were the most played of all my music . She told me she felt as if her musical childhood had died . Although Prince and Bowie were very different artists , they both shared a single attribute in my mind . That ability to make me feel music in ways no other artist ever did . I mention Bowie too here because of the larger than life importance his music also left embedded in my heart and mind . Both artists were also love at first note for me . The only huge difference was that I was able to actually see Bowie in concert . Sadly I never saw Prince and although there's now wonderful footage of him out there , it's not the same thing . The best thing to come out of Prince leaving us too young is that young people who never heard or saw anything of Prince aside from Purple Rain songs , I can now direct them to other bodies of work where he played all the instruments to perfection . His vocal range and his stage presence on top of all his musicality and dance ... There was never anyone like him out there and sadly will never be again . He will continue to be the most beloved of all the artists I have known who have passed away , and to this day I cannot describe accurately to anyone who is not familiar with his artistry how he made me feel . I am sure there are stories that are far more interesting out there . But nobody can measure the feeling of sheer emotion just by hearing a favorite artist . May his soul be rocking those heavenly gates as colorfully as he did on earth !
