I was 15 going on 16 years of age and in high school when "Purple Rain" came out. I was already a Prince fan due to "I Wanna Be Your Lover" & the "1999" album. My boyfriend at the time who eventually became my husband took me to see "Purple Rain". WOW!!!! Is what I thought. I couldn't believe what I had seen and heard. That movie was phenomenal to me. It was some of the best music I had ever heard, best dances and performances I had seen and I was just mesmerized by Prince and Apollonia. Well during the height of Purple Rain my high school was promoting a lip sync contest that would be held for a $50 1st prize. So I gathered a cousin of mine and our mutual friend to do the Apollonia 6 routine "Sex Shooter" from the movie. We won 1st!!!! Our performance became so popular that we were being asked to perform this routine at dances and house parties. It was a great time of my life. My husband and I have always stayed true Prince fans. Unfortunately we both never got to see Prince in concert due to life would throw us curve balls. My husband passed ten years ago and I will never get the chance to enjoy Prince with my husband. I was determined to attend Prince's last concert "Piano and a Microphone" with my daughter. I was so excited that I was getting closer to checking off this from my bucket list. Now I will never get this chance to see my musical icon (idol). Oh how I will miss you my dear Prince. RIP ?????
