A Memory of John

My memory of John was seeing him in person, late seventies, Tallahassee, FL. My husband and I went to see him in concert, having floor seats not far from the stage. Besides his wonderful music, I found it so like John, as a person, to let his band take a short break, leaving the stage while he kept on singing. He was an exceptional entertainer! He always wanted to see that his audience enjoyed themselves, often allowing them to participate and sing along. I've been to a lot of concerts in my lifetime, but I've never had a singer really love his audience the way John did. His love of nature is apparent in his songs lyrics, so much a kindred spirit to those of us that feel as he. But John also seemed to love the people, his fans, that loved his music, not just for the monetary gain he got from those attending his concerts, but for their overwhelming enjoyment of his songs. A gifted visionary, I'm sure John had the ability to see the very soul of his fans, and knew what they wanted to hear. If there's a heaven, I know John's there, for he had a pure soul and a loving heart for nature, and people. There will never be another talent like John Denver! He left a legacy of beautiful music meant to last for generations, entertaining all those that appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature. He was a mellow man, a gifted writer, and a gentle soul with visions of peace and beauty in a troubled, and often ugly world. John was a unique person, and a monumental talent! He left us much too soon, but he left us in passing with a vision of what life could be, if we just took the time to see the beauty in the world, and love one another. If John were here today, I wonder what he would say about all the tragedy we've gone through since his death, and the boundless hate filling our airways? I often wonder how he would choose to express his disdain in his lyrics. John was blessed with powerful words and music that could inspire and lift a man's spirits. What would he say, in his new songs, that would encourage mankind for a better, brighter tomorrow? It's sad, to realize, that we will never know for sure, yet, I know, that whatever songs he wrote, he would stress the need for worldwide peace, and more love, for both nature, and humankind. When John left us, the world not only lost a phenomenal musician, a tremendously talented
entertainer, and a beautiful person, we lost a powerful visionary into future life events. John Denver was an exceptional man, and I miss him!
