When I was a student in Liverpool (many years ago in the late 1960's), a friend invited me to a concert, to hear a man called Leonard Cohen. He's a poet she said and you'll either love him or hate him.
I remember that he walked onto the stage, he was carrying a guitar and he was alone. As I recall he didn't speak he just started singing. From that moment I was hooked and the words of Leonard Cohen have been with me ever since.
I still have a little book of Haiku from my student days and after that concert I went back to my room and in the front of my little Haiku book I wrote some Haiku of my own. They were dedicated to Leonard. The Haiku I wrote then are too personal to share here.
Here are some Haiku I have written recently, these are also dedicated to Leonard Cohen, the man who has moved me and inspired me my whole life.
Thank you Leonard.
My love always. Chris XXX

For Leonard .....
A weaver of words,
That are the warp and weft of
The fabric of love .

Time passes, but you
Are constant like a bright star,
There to light our path.

And when the night is
Dark, your words are candles, that
Light our way to dawn.

We are the faithful.
You have our hearts and souls, we
Will never leave you.
CRW 2014
When the world bears down
Around me, your words are my
Peace and solitude.

Another Haiku for Leonard, inspired by Leonard and the friends I have made through the Facebook page "I need a regular dose of Leonard Cohen"
Your words travel far
Across the world to touch the
Hearts of those who listen.
