Ruthie, age sixteen, was found as a stray in Abilene in December of 2017. She was in terrible condition, with severe gum and dental disease, a double ear infection, an eye infection, an upper respiratory infection, pin worms, round worms, a tape worm, an inguinal hernia, and so much more.
The Abilene shelter put out a call to action, and Forgotten Friends pulled her so she could be fostered. She had an incredible foster who spoiled her nonstop, and we adopted her in March of 2018. She still has a lot of health problems: that hernia is still there, along with diseased airways, a collapsed trachea, and heart failure, but she’s a spunky lady with a lot of life left in her. There have been many opportunities for her to leave us if she chose, but she isn’t ready, and we hope it stays that way!

Buttercup is our four-year-old Chiweenie. She was a Craigslist rehome with a sketchy background. If we hadn’t adopted her, she’d have been surrendered to the shelter because her former family said she had too much energy as a five-and-a-half-month-old puppy. She showed signs of being abused, and she has an extreme aversion to loud noises, so we are constantly working to help her be more comfortable in public. She’s been a great dog sister to our fosters, and we don’t know what our life would be like without her!

Trixie is our foster with Forgotten Friends. Found as a stray in Brownwood, she’s a ten-year-old, three-legged miniature schnauzer who is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. She’s an absolute dream girl, and we hope she’s found her forever home by the time this book is published.
