[Dog parents: Andrea LaPointe & John Gross]
We adopted Norm in June of 2018. Andrea was working as a receptionist at the Austin Pets Alive! medical center when Dallas Animal Services called asking whether APA!'s Parvo ward had room for a three- or four-month old Cane Corso. Austin Pets Alive! gladly took him in and helped him make a full recovery. Meanwhile, John had dreamed of owning a Mastiff, and once we saw a picture of the little Parvo survivor, we knew we had to have him! Our only concern was whether he'd get along with our anxious Great Dane, Lou. But there was no need to worry; they become best friends instantly!
Within six months, we learned that Norm had bilateral hip dysplasia and would need two new hips in order to develop correctly. We are currently in the process of getting his second hip replaced, and we've been impressed with his strength and his quick recoveries throughout the ordeal.
Norm has taught all of us so much! He's helped Lou overcome a lot of his anxiety, and he's amazed us with his consistent love and loyalty despite all he's suffered. We couldn't be happier that he's part of our family.
